Beauty influencers and companies are constantly coming out with new recommendations on how to elevate your look, but a lot involve making expensive purchases or encouraging overconsumption. There are various ways you can do these at home, for cheaper.

Hair care tips:

Instead of constantly purchasing expensive hair masks, serums or creams you can create your own hair care products from ingredients you most likely already have lying around your home.

This easy at home hair mask can be used on any hair texture, the mixture will provide your hair with hydration, tackle dry ends, and leave your hair with a desirable shine.

  1. Mix the ingredients together.
  1. Wait until the mixture cools slightly, to a lukewarm temperature.
  1. Apply the mixture evenly to damp hair and leave to sit for 20 minutes.
  1. Rinse out and shampoo and conditioner as normal.

Avocado Hair Mask:

If you’ve been struggling to tame your frizzy hair, an avocado hair mask will be your best friend! This mask provides moisture to your locks and leaves it with a smooth finish.

Ingredients –

1 Avocado

5 tbsp of Olive oil

Instructions –

  1. Cut one avocado in half and remove the centre seed.
  1. Mash the avocado in a bowl until it becomes a thick paste.
  1. Add 5 tbsp of olive oil to the mixture – this helps add more hydration and thins out the mask.
  1. Apply the mask evenly from the root to ends of your hair.
  1. Leave to sit for up to 60 minutes.
  1. Rinse out with lukewarm water and shampoo and condition as normal.
  1. Style your hair as usual and enjoy your new shiny and luscious hair!

Skin Care Tips:

There are plenty of DIY skincare tips you can carry out at home, to ensure you have soft, hydrated and healthy skin.

Sugar exfoliation scrub:

To tackle any dry skin, you can incorporate this simple exfoliation scrub into your weekly routine, and never have to worry about cracked or dead skin again!

Ingredients –

1 cup of granulated or brown sugar

½ cup of oil (coconut, olive, almond – all work)

Instructions –

  1. Combine the sugar and chosen oil together
  1. Mix together with a spoon until fully combined
  1. Transfer the scrub to a clean tubble wear container or glass jar.

How to use:

  • In the shower, after washing, rub the scrub over any parts of your body that struggle with dry or dead skin; most commonly the elbows, knees, back and feet.
  • Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat skin dry with a towel.
  • Enjoy your soft and nourished skin!

Tackling puffy eyes:

If you suffer with puffy eyes in the mornings, there’s many simple and effective ways you can tackle them without having to fork out on expensive creams or serums.

Cold spoons:

Instructions –

  1. Place two tablespoons in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  1. Gently press the curved side of the spoon on your undereyes and leave for 45-60 seconds.
  1. After your spoons have warmed up, finish off by using a moisturiser on your undereyes to lock in the affects.

The cold temperature from the spoons helps decrease blood flow in the area, which reduces any unwanted puffiness and swelling.

Cucumber eye patches:

Instructions –

  1. Thinly cut two cucumber slices.
  1. Allow them to chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  1. Lie down and place the slices over your eyes, leaving them to sit for 15 minutes
  2. Remove the slices and gently wash your face with water.

Similar to the cold spoons, the cucumber slices promote a lack of blood flow to the eyes, leading to a decrease in any puffiness or swelling, making you look refreshed and hydrated.
